MBI has embarked on various Social Responsibility Programmes with the Municipalities, Sports and Cultural bodies. The two flagship programmes that MBI has over the years been engaged in is the Bursary Scheme and Mandela Day Programme with the Municipality.

The bursary programme culminates in our participation at The Annual Mayoral Awards. Many disadvantaged and less fortunate learners have benefitted from MBI’s Bursary Programme with the eThekwini Municipality and uThungulu District Municipalities.

For the 2016 year R240 000 worth of Bursaries has been allocated to the eThekwini and uThungulu District Municipalities.

It is interesting to note that MBI’s Top Achiever for 2014 was a learner from the eThekwini Municipality Bursary Scheme.

The Mandela Day Programme is run in conjunction with the Office of The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the eThekwini Municipality.

For the 2015 Mandela Day Programme, MBI accompanied The Mayor, Deputy Mayor and MEC of COGTA on various Mandela Day Programmes that included, a visit to Ohlange High School and Tribute to the late John Dube, the first President of the ANC. MBI contributed Soups for the Elderly and School Uniforms for the Learners as part of their contribution towards the 2015 Mandela Day Campaign. This was indeed a special and joyous day for Maritime Business Institute as seen from the various photos.

Another Project that is close to the heart of MBI is the Annual Contribution to the Deputy Mayors campaign for the Children’s Orphanage in Kwa Zulu Natal. The appreciation and joy on the faces of these orphans is a very moving and emotional experience and the College will continue to support this project of The Deputy Mayor and the Municipality.
