Frozen rats are similar to mice, but have a higher protein and fat content which translates to a higher energy content. Rats come in an extremely diverse size range and can feed anything from sand boas and young monitors all the way up to adult female boa constrictors. Frozen rats are an ideal food as a staple diet. Also a choice food for birds of prey. Feeder rats are ethically euthanized using CO2 as suggested by the Veterinary Medical Association panel on euthanasia.
