The No. 12 is the family dinner skillet. A personal favorite of ours, the ample cook surface and taller walls make this size ideal for one-skillet family dinners or serving an entree to intimate gatherings. The No. 12 measures 13 3/8" in diameter, 2 1/4" in height, and weighs 7.5 lbs. The No. 12 cast iron skillet is made at our shop in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
The Lancaster No. 12 features a smooth, pre-seasoned cooking surface, a traditional stout handle, large pour spouts, and a lightweight yet strong construction that feels natural in any chef’s hands. With the No. 12 Lancaster pan in your home, you will be taking part in a generational American tradition.
Why the number "12"?
Our cookware uses traditional American cast iron sizing metrics dating back to the 1800s. The numbers correlate to the size of ports on antique wood stoves as cast iron cookware and wood stoves often went hand in hand. The number 12 is traditionally a top diameter 13 3/8" skillet.
